Earth Hour, Capsquare

Dear readers,

Do you know?

ABOUT EARTH HOUR

The event began in Sydney in 2007, when 2 million people switched off their lights.
In 2008, more than 50 million people around the globe participated. This year, Earth
Hour aims to reach 1 billion people in 1,000 cities, including Kuala Lumpur, which
will be the city’s inaugural participation. Iconic buildings and global landmarks
across Europe, Asia Pacific, The Middle East and The Americas will go dark
, sending
a message to world leaders in the lead-up to the United Nations Climate Conference
Copenhagen 2009 that we need a commitment to actions that will reduce
greenhouse gas emissions for the short and long term benefit of the planet.

WWF-Malaysia, along with Leo Burnett and various committees and groups
around Malaysia are endeavoring to encourage Malaysia’s households,
ommunities and businesses to turn off their lights for one hour. To name a few, t
he following are the individuals, organizations and partners who have pledged
their support for Earth Hour: Media Prima, Astro, RTM, ICR Malaysia, A
ishah Sinclair, Rina Omar, Sazzy Falak, Stephanie Chai, Lina Teoh, Harith Iskandar,
Deborah Henry, Joanna Bessey, Daphne Iking, Reshmonu, Sarimah Ibrahim,
Sharifah Amani, etc

First Time In Malaysia!

Earth Hour at CapSquare

CapSquare has pledged its support for the Earth Hour initiative. We will turn off our
lights and get out retail tenants, office block tenants as well as residents to switch
off their lights during Earth Hour. On top of this, we are organizing several events on
28th March to create more interest and awareness on this noble initiative.

Detailed below are the activities that we will be organizing:

-Walk of Hope
At 6.00pm, we would like to unite all urbanites, to go the extra mile for Mother
Earth by joining a charity walk with their family and friends. The walk will start at
Persiaran CapSquare, it continues along Jalan Ampang and back to Persiaran
CapSquare (it will take approximately 30 minutes). We hope to get celebrity
participants for the walk and gather approximately 500 people to send a message
that KL urbanites are united, taking action on climate change. The walk will be led by
a marching-band.

Tickets for the walk will be sold at RM10, whereby proceeds will be donated to
WWF-Malaysia. Each participant will get a free Earth Hour T-Shirt and a Recycle
Goodie Bag. Purchase your tickets at www.axcess.com.my or grab it from me.

-Changing the World in 60 minutes
At exactly 8.30pm, CapSquare will turn off its lights in support of Earth Hour.
There will be a countdown to darkness at CapSquare and patrons will also have a
perfect view of KL Tower turning-off their lights at the same time.
Patrons can dine by candlelight at our F&B outlets and enjoy a host of low-powered
shows such as a fire-eating show, brass band performance, oriental drums,
acoustic performance by local artistes and a cheerleading performance.

-Eco-Bazaar
From 10am to 10pm, there will be an Eco Bazaar at CapSquare featuring eco-friendly
NGOs and non-profit organizations, corporate sponsors, and an eclectic mix of
other vendors. The main showcase of the bazaar will be eco-friendly premiums,
recycled products, F&B knick-knacks, trinkets, vintage clothing, etc.

We would like to invite you and your team to participate in the Walk of Hope.
We would also like to explore other possible opportunities for us to collaborate to
make the event a success. An initial top of the mind idea would be to specially design
a Melinda Looi Earth Hour T-Shirt or Recycle Bag as the free premium gifts for the
Walk of Hope participants. This will surely encourage more participants for the walk.

Why Wait? Stand Out and Make the Change

Fyi: The brother is handling the event.

It's great that Malaysians are organizing this event.
Can I pls make a suggestion that CapSquare scrap the fire eating show, along with the fact that people would not be using candles/ torches.
Fire and batteries would have defeated the purporse and again is contributing to added carbon.
